On the fence about pin needle heels

All around the interwebs we've been seeing a lot of chunky shapes, especially in the platform/high heel area. Personally, I'm a big fan: it's a way to wear high heels but still walk around relatively stable. Not falling down: always a plus! At the same time though, I've noticed a lot of pin needle heels, often metallic, as well! And surprise surprise, I'm not so sure what to think of them. Let's consider, shall we?

Probably the most famous one: the Big Lips 120 by monsieur Louboutin himself. The shoe itself has a very nice shape. Other Louboutin designs with a similar heel: Big Lips bootie, Metallip 120, Big Dorcet 120 and even a kitten heel version, Zecroi 45. And this Big Stack 120.

Already the fact that the heel is plain black rather than metallic, makes this shoe infinitely prettier. The same applies for these C'est courts by Kurt Geiger. Because the uppers and the heels are the same shade, the needle heel doesn't make me want to poke out my own eyes with it.

The Topshop ones below just look pretty cheap.

Whereas this Hermione by Kurt Geiger just looks trashy...

I can appreciate the heel on these French connection ones though.

But still my overall opinion is that all these shoes would look much much better with a normal stiletto heel. What do you think? Do you own any pin needle heels? How are they to walk on?

  1. i just don't like them, i think they make a shoe look daft and unfinished. i'm a stiletto girl over chunky heels all the way, but these are a step too far..
