Shoe challenge #68: Blink

I usually pair leopard print with the usual suspects: red, black, brown, denim. But I thought I'd put the versatility of this dress to the test and try it out with my new Blink leopard print courts. And it held up wonderfully! I really like the subtle unexpectedness of this outfit. Ladylike yet cheeky!

I wore this look for a typical weekday a couple of weeks ago: work and a sushi date with the bff. By the time I got around to taking photos, it was past 9pm and I needed to use the flash. Which is why my dress looks more baby blue than the turquoise it actually is. Or why my face is so shiny. And my hair looks an absolute mess, that too. Now that the boy takes most of my photos, I really hate taking them myself. After these shots I went straight online and ordered myself a tripod and a remote control. Just saying.

Now, I'm still not 100 % sure about the shoes. I've been on the lookout for the perfect pair of leopard print pumps for quite a while now, and after an unsuccessful stint with a Chinese buyer on eBay (the shoes ended up looking AND smelling unbelievably cheap) I ended up with these. Which are fine, I guess, but in the product shots they looked darker and therefore a lot more luscious. But for now they'll do.
On a more personal note, the reason I'm showing you old photos, is because my fears have proven just and the boy has been admitted into hospital with pneumothorax. He's had surgery this morning and he should be fine (he's had similar problems with his other lung just last year), but for the moment I'm staying at my mum's house with just a hastily packed bag, one pair of black flats and no camera. Luckily I still had some backup posts, so I'll try to bridge these couple of days and hope to be back soon with new fashion statements.

One two three

This is what happens when I have a couple of days off from work: I arrive at my desk, only to be greeted by lots of packages. I can think of worse ways to start the day! I'll keep it short and sweet, and will let you enjoy the photos of my latest purchases. All sales, obviously.

First up: blue slingbacks (avec bow, of course) from Rocket Dog. They're a bit snug, even if I was convinced that my Rocket Dog booties are a size 4 as well, but they fit, so no problems there. The electric blue is stunning though.

Also: leopard courts from Blink. I had my doubts about these, as they're a bit too shiny up close, but they look fine when they're a bit further away. By which I mean, on my feet.

The grand finale: the biggest score ever. They are pure dynamite. Sheer perfection. I might just display them in my living room...

I just have to be careful that I don't accidentally drool on them. Now all that's missing is a pair of Loubs for them to make friends with!

Studded trim

Alert the fashion police, we have found an imposter! Back in May I showed you Dauphine, a beautiful Sam Edelman flat, and complained about the hefty price tag attached. And now these Blink shoes show up, completely identical apart from the colour switch.

While the Sam Edelmans were nude with black accents, these are black with nude accents. It's a bit like looking at a photo negative. Don't believe me? Look!

Good news though, is that these will only set you back £55 (€70), as opposed to the original €126.

Blink

You can't have too many classics in your wardrobe. One of those staples? A sexy, elegant and walkable (!) pump in black or nude, that will last you throughout the years. Preferably a Louboutin. Just kidding, I know not everyone (and especially not me) has that kind of budget. Even then, I would advise to invest in a pair of real leather courts. If you really want to keep it low budget though, I'm pretty sure these Blink pumps would do the trick rather nicely, or at least for the time being.

Talk about a shoe that goes with everything! From the product shots they look like good quality, even if they aren't real leather, and the beige outer sole lends them a bit more class than a black sole would. Smack on a double bow, make them in both nude and black, and you have a staple shoe that will surely get a lot of wear for only £40. If you ant to take them for a test drive, you can order them here.
