Shoe challenge #49: Angel or demon

We're suffering a major heat wave this weekend and Friday was only slightly less smoldering than today. Luckily we have airco at work, pfff! Anyway, I couldn't imagine wearing anything else but comfortable cotton and flat sandals during this heat, and I guess this is what I came up with. I really loved the juxtaposition of the white lace against the black leather and the studs.

This was only the third or the forth time I wore these Exie sandals, but it was the first time they didn't kill my feet! They have literally made me bleed every time so far, but on Friday they were fine. No damage done to my feet whatsoever. Maybe I finally broke them in? Let's hope so!

Converse sandals

Is anyone wondering why they've put these on sale? Not even if they gave me money on top, I would not be caught dead in these.

Shoe challenge #40: Pink glitter

All the other photos looked like I have stumps for legs. Well, all those other photos... In fact, I could convince my boyfriend to take three. Three! So there were slim pickings today. We had, on the other hand, a very fun-filled Saturday that day. We did some grocery shopping together, cooked a meal, cleaned the entire house and went to see the new Batman film in the theatre.
For all this activity I wanted to be comfortable above all, so I wore my (never worn before) pink glitter sandals. I tried to get as many summer shoes saved as I could, as it seems like the nice weather has already abandoned us again. Soon I'll be back to boots again, ugh!

Shoe challenge #38: Silver wings

I love Brussels. Unfortunately, the boyfriend doesn't. So we took a little day trip to get him more acquainted with one of my favourite cities in the world. Turns out, today wasn't all that bad. Brussels wasn't all that bad! We had a little walk around, enjoyed some modern art, a couple of drinks, a round of yummie yummie sushi (for me, he had noodles) and finally met up with some friends from university before we took the train back home. We did a lot of walking and the temperatures were smoldering, so I wore a breezy dress and my trusty 'India' shoes. Bought them for €1,5 or so, and after almost three years, they're still doing the job! This photo was taken at one of my favourite places in Brussels, and now he loves the view there as well...

Shoe challenge #35: Bugs

Today was a very relaxed day. The boyfriend and I enjoyed a glorious day off, and as the sun was shining (28°C baby!) we ventured into town for some cocktails and a book. Summer is finally here! I saved these new orange flats today, with my bug dress from Istanbul, but since I didn't bring my proper camera, we had to make do with the camera on my Blackberry. Not the best photo, but a pair of shoes saved nonetheless! (and I'm hoping that the boyfriend will take pictures more often, but with my good camera)

On another note, my dad and I finally made a plan for my dressing room last week, so I'm hoping that I'll get to display all my shoes soon. I'm really getting fed up with having to dig through towers of shoe boxes and still not finding the pair I was looking for in the end. It's going to be awesome!

Shoe challenge #33: Cartoon colours

This morning, waiting at the train station...

Sometimes I don't know why I bother with the blogging. I don't wear makeup. I don't know how to work the jewellery or accessories. I don't even like separates, I prefer keeping it (relatively) simple and just throwing on a dress and a pair of heels. Not much fashion sense required  there. And then some days, I even do less of an effort. Tonight after work I'll go out with my boyfriend and some friends for all-you-can-eat spareribs in Antwerp, so I wanted to have some room in my clothes for the "sparerib baby" that I'll have grown after dinner, and I knew that I'll have to do some walking, so comfy shoes were a must as well when getting dressed this morning. My turquoise Converse wannabes were the obvious choice. I'm rather surprised myself at how often I do wear these. (at least once a week) Hopefully this doesn't mean that I'm getting bored/fed up/tired of high heels... (I'm sure it's not)

New Look haul

I think I even outdid myself with this one. Four pairs of shoes in one order! Luckily not one pair cost over £10. And the craziest part of all? Not one pair of heels! I'm totally ready for summer now, especially for daytrips with the boyfriend and festivals with my friends. I can't wait to take these babies out.

I've been thinking about getting a pair of Converse sneakers for a while though, but decided they were a bit expensive for a style that I wasn't sure I would get much wear out of. So when I saw these cheap knock-offs on the New Look website, I didn't hesitate. I would've loved a hot pink pair like the ballet flats, but I'm so glad I chose these turquoise ones. They give my legs an instant tan!!

Two weeks ago I ordered the strapless dress with the pink car print, but I decided against this white palm tree print dress. And then my size was sold out. So as soon as I saw my size pop up again (on sale!), I couldn't help but slip it in with my overload on shoes. I'm in love with the cutout in the back.

Jules

An laid-back shoe for a (hopefully) laid-back day. And because I can't simply resist glitter.

Or bows. Or cheap shoes that only cost a ridiculous £15.

Ladybell

Oh Kurt Geiger, how can you hurt me so? You lift me up, only to push me down again. And the crazy part? These monstrosities are slowly but surely selling out. At £160 a pair.

Shoe challenge #19: Good enough to eat

As soon as I saw this hotdog dress on Kaelah last year, I knew I wanted it. But for some reason, I kept postponing the purchase. Until I saw that it was marked down and it was the only one left, and then of course I pounced on it. And I love it! It's so busy and so loud that you can't quite avert your eyes, ha! My boyfriend thought that the dress was pretty ironic, seeing how I don't really even eat any fast food. With the marvellous weather we had last weekend, I decided on my new yellow sandals. A perfect outfit for a perfect day full of sunshine, love and hanging out with friends by the swimming pond.

Ikaria

These would have never caught my attention from the product shot alone. I'm not a fan of gladiators, as it's a style that I would never wear myself, and especially in gold they generally never appeal to me. It was however this photo that did convince me about these sandals.

I love Greek mythology, and I'm especially taken with the wing detail when placed on a foot. They fit nicely around the ankles though, which makes it quirky and not over the top like the Melissa x Vivienne Westwood Wing platforms. As opposed to those (which I find rather ugly), these remain elegant and rather subtle. You almost have to do a second take to really notice this exceptional detail, as it isn't so in your face that you'd notice at first glance.
These Ikaria sandals from Ancient Greek Sandals don't come awfully cheap though, they'll cost you $245.

Sherbet colours

I may have overdone it with the shoes this month. For example, I ended up falling for these Forever 21 pumps I showed you earlier. And as I predicted, the pink pair won.
It was my first time ordering (or buying) something from Forever 21 and I had some difficulties with the sizing. In the end I went for a 37, which is quite snug, but I do think a 38 would have been too big on me. The heel is higher than I expected, but I'm not going to pretend I wasn't secretly happy about that. And the colour! It is so vibrant, I love it!

Also ended up in my mailbox: these yellow flats from New Look. They were extremely cheap and probably won't last more than one summer, but at least they're pretty. I will have to add some extra holes in the straps though, because try as I might, I can't keep them on while I walk, even if they are fine lengthwise.

Lua

The weather on this side of the globe is still quite gloom and rainy, and naturally that only makes me dream about summer. I have yet to walk outside barelegged this year and it's starting to get me down, putting on these tights day after day, while I've ordered some ridiculously fun sandals lately. Which I'm dying to wear, but can't. These however, wouldn't look to bad on my feet either.

I love their frivolousness and their whimsy and even their Pocahontas vibe, what with the plastic feathers on top. This should come as no surprise, as I featured their wedge sisters way back when in January. As I've already purchased my fair share of flat sandals this year (without any sun to actually wear them), I won't be spending my £47 on them, but if you want to, you can do so here.

Fergie

I don't consider Fergie the best dresser, so maybe the name for this shoe is quite appropriate after all. I've had a rough few days at work and just barely finished my deadlines before the weekend begins, but I couldn't not show you these ugly fringe sandals.

They're ugly from every angle, and strangely enough they exude a bit of a plastic vibe as well, I think. Anyway, I'll pass for the hairy-looking ankles, but if you're keen, you can get a pair here.

Yellow bows

I came, I saw, I bought. It took me all of five seconds to decide on these. Can you tell I'm anxiously awaiting Summer? I just love the freshness of these, and I'm sure I'll wear them all the time come sunshine. Who cares if they're part of the New Look teen collection? On the inside, I'm still 15 years old! And for only £10 you can pretend to be a teenager as well!

Berry Blend

Yet another case of toddler shoes, by repeat-offender Irregular Choice. I'm guessing these sandals were supposed to be fun, but they just look messy and over-thought to me! And to believe there are actually girls out there spending more than $100 on these or -gasp- even wearing these...

Victory

I didn't expect to find a pair so soon, but I did it! I present to you, on my feet, Sam Edelman's Exie sandals. I bought them from an American eBayer and they have literally never even been worn. I love that other women buy so much stuff that they end up never wearing. Especially when I can get a really good deal out of it. I'm going to get so much wear out of these babies this summer! (if summer ever decides to show up, that is)

Prissmt

Remember those Sam Edelman flats I've been obsessing over? Well, behold Steve Madden's knock-off. These have rhinestones instead of studs, and they miss the overall luxury feel that the originals exude. Nonetheless, these are still quite expensive, given the poor execution. If you can look past that, spend your €73 here.

Madaras

Earlier today I showed you the villains of the world of sandals (there is no such world per se, but I think there should be), so I thought I should show you a pair that I do like as well. And contrary to my expectations, I like these F-Troupe sandals. Very much even. I'm very taken with the checked uppers, even if the colours are a bit gloomy, and I love the finishing touches in tan.

And I especially love this bow. I didn't really notice at first glance until I saw the close-up, but the bow is actually the piece of leather from the peep toe folded upwards. I adore little details like that! The platform is small enough that it doesn't bother me, even if Asos describes these as "wedge sandals". Huh? That's not a wedge, darlings. If you want to pay €119 for this non-wedge though, you can do so here.

Sparkle bow

I'm continuing the summery streak that I started last week, and I expect to continue on for quite a while longer as well. Basically that means that I'll be showing you sandals until you're sick of both them and sunshine.
The simplicity of these Next sandals appeals to me, especially since they're more intricate than you would expect at first glance. The shimmery bits aren't actually fabric, but chains and diamonds that are sewn on top of the beige fabric. It's a pity they didn't cover the entire shoe, I would've preferred that to the combination with the tan leather in the back. For sandals these aren't cheap, but not expensive either: £50. Buy them at Next.
