Shoe challenge #64: Floral

With statement shoes like these, especially if they have a lot going on (like these), I tend to keep my outfit as non-fussy as possible. But, being who I am, I couldn't resist a bit of colour clashing with the orange dress and the red belt. This was a perfect work outfit for a sunny day, simple and comfortable, yet very bright and cheery.

These Northern Floral wedges provoke pretty strong reactions: people seem to either really love or really hate these shoes. My male coworker who I share an office with, has said multiple times that these are his least favourite shoes. The boyfriend said they were the tackiest pair he's seen me wear so far. Pretty harsh criticism, isn't it? Then again, girls really dig them. Maybe it's just the girliness of them throwing the men off? After all, Irregular Choice shoes aren't for everyone and these shoes do pile on the embellishments: a floral printed wedge, teal suede, orange contrast stitching, a floral printed bow, an orange lace bow, and some cherries on top... What do you think? Are these simply too much? (Not that I would love them any less for it, mind you)

Danger Pauly

That's a rather fetching shoe I thought, at first glance. The bow seems a bit strange, though, was my second thought. And of course, as these are Irregular Choice, there is something off about this bow. Mainly because it isn't a bow at all. Oh no, those are bat wings! Don't believe me?

Boo! Only Irregular Choice would pull a stunt like that. How very Dracula of them. If you like a little horror on your feet, these Danger Pauly's are down to £40.

Oz love you

Call me crazy, but finally there's another pair of Irregular Choice shoes that I actually do like! These are still a little bit preposterous, but in a good way. That massive plastic bow is superfun, and I love the gingham uppers. I'd definitely go for the red version though, I think it works better with the colours of the bow.

And look how pretty they look on! I'm usually not a fan of those perspex heels, but for these, I can see past that. Tricky thing would be to find an outfit to go with these, as you don't want to venture into toddler territory by wearing them with a cutesy dress. If you know just how to style them, you can get them at Schuh for £80.

Berry Blend

Yet another case of toddler shoes, by repeat-offender Irregular Choice. I'm guessing these sandals were supposed to be fun, but they just look messy and over-thought to me! And to believe there are actually girls out there spending more than $100 on these or -gasp- even wearing these...

Twinkle Star

It seems like it's been a long time since I've featured some Irregular Choice shoes. In a good way, I mean. Lately I've been noticing the bad and the ugly, but it's time to give some credit to a job well done too. I'm cheating a little bit, since these aren't exactly a recent design, but they've been on my own wishlist for a while now, so I thought I'd write about them and get them out of my system, instead of actually buying them.

These Twinkle Stars are actually the ballet flat version of the Oz Charms with the perspex heels. It's very rare that I prefer a flat version of anything, but I guess I'm just not a big fan of perspex. And I think the massive bow looks better on the flats, it looks even bigger, and I love the detail of the little cherries charm on the side and the clash of all the different prints.
Because they are from last year, you can get them for only £30 at Letsbuyshoes, which is a great place for discounted Irregular Choice shoes from previous collections by the way.

Leopard, but not in the good way

There's a lot of things that can be said about these shoes, but they sure are interesting aren't they? Don't get me wrong, I don't like them and I'm definitely nominating them for ugly shoes of the week, but at least you can accuse Irregular Choice of not being creative. Because yes, of course these are Irregular Choice, w hat else? At least they have ideas.
To get the full effect of these, you have see them on though.

See? Interesting. With the edgy shapes and the OTT uppers, these are certainly not for me. But if they fit your aesthetic, you can find them here. At £119 they don't come cheap though. Don't say you weren't warned.

Dorothy's Valentine shoes

Everyone who's been following this blog knows of my love/hate relationship with Irregular Choice shoes. I own two pairs myself, but it has been a long time since I fell in love with a pair of new ones. For a moment there, I thought we had grown apart... *insert some mushy tears*
And then I saw these: Red I'm from Burry. I think they are just the right degree of whimsical. I love the contrast of the polka dot with the gingham, although I wish the gingham would have been a fabric. (in some of the photos you can see the -according to me- not so attractive shine of the leather. I'm not the biggest fan of Irregular Choice's plexy heels either, but for this shoe, I'll tolerate it.
I also love the mix of different reds (ballsy!) and the plastic heart on top of the bow. It's just kitchy enough, without being overkill. For some reason they remind me of the kind of shoes Dorothy from The Wizard Of Oz would wear for her Valentine's date.
If you like them as much as I do (or actually if you like them better, since I won't be buying these), you can get them here for £89.

Shoe challenge #39: Colour blocking

Skirt (Asos), Tshirt (Dorothy
Perkins), tights (New Look) and
shoes (Irregular Choice)
Yet another shoe rescued. Ah, the altruism of it all... These are a rather recent purchase, but already I have worn them so much that the gorgeous purple (with little bunnies in tea pots, very 'Alice in Wonderland') soles have already faded beyond recognition. It's a pity, but then again, that's what shoes are made for after all.
I took a shot at colour blocking today, but I'm not 100% sure about the result. I feel like the outfit needed another colour, maybe some bright orange to break it up a bit? Different tights? I don't know, it was too early this morning, so I just quickly threw on a black cardigan and hopped out the door.

Maybe even more than these Irregular Choice Northern floral wedges, I absolutely adoooore this skirt. It's from the Asos sale and it's bound to attract a lot of looks. In daylight it's a really neon hot pink which just grabs your attention. Cheers up any bad mood, garanteed!

PS: Yes, I'm wearing legging underneath my tights, one of my many tricks against the cold.

No more shopping for me

So. The sales. I'm sure they didn't go unnoticed for you either. I went a little overboard. I'm not even going to mention my London purchases, but I did buy a couple of things online as well. Well, why try to explain when I can just show you? First up, the nudes.

This is what I mean when I say I go overboard. Once I'm into something, I can't get beyond it. Last month, nude shoes where one of those things. Clockwise: brogues and peep toe Mary Janes from Miss Selfridges and slightly darker ballet flats from Dorothy Perkins.
I adore the look of all of these shoes (which goes to show how versatile nude really is), but I have to mention the disappointing quality of the ones from Miss Selfridges. They don't seem that well finished, with a couple of chips and stretch marks on the uppers. As they were on sale, it would've been simply too expensive to send them back, but I would think twice about ordering from them again.

Now. My Schuh shopping spree. All three pairs have been lusted over here before. The red ones are the sisters of these and just too crazy sexy. The Irregular Choice Northern Floral wedges have been smiling at me since forever, and of course I wasn't able to resist the bronze YSL lookalikes. I think the image above sums up my eclectic taste in shoes pretty swell.
Add to that the three pairs I bought in London (all of which I have still to wear!) and the current state of my bank account, and I've gone completely overboard. And it's time to stop. FULL STOP. I have been having very itchy fingers lately, but so far I have resisted and haven't bought even one pair of shoes since I came back from my citytrip.
I will continue with my shoe challenge, but I need to give up buying tons of shoes. I no longer have storage space for them and I'm even starting to forget about certain pairs, which breaks my heart.
On top of that, I may have found a house. A house that could be a home, and all mine on top of that. Obviously, once I get myself into a loan with the bank, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't appreciate me internetshopping until I drop. It's time to cut back, it's for a good cause, and I'll just have to keep on repeating that to myself like oh... a thousand times a day.

Shoe challenge #17: Black and white

Shirt (H&M), skirt (Zara),
cardigan (no idea), tights (Accessorize)
and shoes (Irregular Choice)
I wore this outfit, with my Irregular Choice's Toodle Loos, to work earlier this week. I kept it all black and white for effect, except for the bright pink of the cardigan. I also did an effort to pull the different themes together: the little black polkadots on my shirt reflected the black and white checks of the shoes, and the shoes, the tights as well as my necklace had a bow on them. That's about as much of an effort I'm ever going to do people, better get used to it.

It's only now, after a couple of wears, that the shoes are starting to get comfortable. They fit like a dream and they have the softest velvet interior ever, but they are so freaking high! These are 4,5 inches high, no platform! So yes, even for me they take some getting used to. But with shoes this gorgeous and special, who cares?!

Irregular Choice's Toode Loo in black/white

A package? Pour moi??! What in the world could be inside?
Shoes! Oh my!
*drool* Just look at those curvy heels!
Must. Wear. New. Shoes.
And they look amazing on as well! I'm a tiny bit disappointed, as they're less comfortable then I expected them to be. Well, I'll just have to endure it, since they are fabulous and will be even more so with the perfect LBD.
