Shoe challenge #27: Jitterbug

This outfit is rather old, from the beginning of June to be exact. This was my look for this year's company party. During the day I wore my white ballet flats for the city game, but for the dinner and the party itself I changed into my Jitterbugs. I was so excited to finally call these mine, I had been hunting after them since forever.

The dress is one of my personal favourites, I've had it for years and years. I love how it's dressy but not too formal. And it works so well with the shoes as well! It's a wonderful stretchy fabric, and it does wonders for the boobs if ya know what I mean wink wink.

Carrie & Candy

Sometimes I'll just look at a shoe, and look at it some more, and wonder what I could write about it that isn't totally obsolete. Sure, I could tell you "look what a pretty shoe I'm showing you today". Or that I'm particularly taken with the studs on the back. With the contrast between the soft nude suede and the toughness of the heel. But, these photos speak for themselves, I feel.

I also feel like maybe Miss Selfridge has turned to Sam Edelman's designs for some inspiration. Especially when I saw this other shoe. The similarities are too small to actually point fingers, but still, I have a sneaky suspicion. That bow with the studs? Very Sam Edelman.

Of course, it goes without a doubt that both shoes are gorgeous. And at respectively £65 for Carrie and £58 for Candy, at least they're more affordable than Sam Edelman's shoes.

Usually when I show you Louboutins, they're all shiny and stiletto-esque, but today I thought I'd give you a different kind of treat. You see, I adore these wedges. They're from the "20 ans" anniversary collection, and at 14 centimeters they are mega high, even for a wedge.

I love the fabric, even if the design hits me as a little too "casual" for Louboutin. That said, the red ribbon is striking against the black and white motif, and the fact that the women on the print are wearing red soled shoes is just too precious.

I also love the placement of the fabric on the heel. It's all about the wow-effect with Loubies, isn't it? Of course, for €495 you wouln't expect any less...

Cinderella

I love it when two of my favourite brands combine forces. The shoe god, mister Christian Louboutin himself, has put his own touch on Cinderella's glass slipper, in honour of the film's Diamond anniversary. Disney is rerealising the dvd this fall.

It goes without saying that Louboutin did a really good job as well. His interpretation of the infamous glass slipper involves white lace, butterflies and Swarovski crystals, and of course a 5 inch heel.

I really like the result. Beautiful, isn't it?

Lemon drops

I wouldn't neceralliry buy or wear these myself, but I think they are cool enough to show you all three colour ways.

They follow the SS trend with the pastel colours, which is probably the main reason why these won't end up on my shoe shelves. I guess they remind me too much of Easter. The perspex gives them a sixties mod vibe though which I love, even if I don't know how attractive it'll make your toes look.

New Look is only charging £28 for them, which, as usual, is a steal.

Not my usual style, because these are rather demure for my taste, but I'd wear them in the blink of an eye. This looks like the kind of shoe that can be worn anywhere, anytime, and still be comfortable enough to make it from day to night without blisters or other booboos. The price doesn't really hurt either, these can be yours for $65. I especially love the blue with the cream, it's a change from the usual black-cream/nude combos, but be sure to check out the other colour ways as well. There's a black-white version and a coral-cream one.

Skull

I love me some McQueen, and these platforms are no exception, even if they are green. They are magnificent enough on their own to be made in every single colour though, if you ask me.

In fact, these are what beautiful shoes are all about: great shape, great materials (suede!), great colours (green and gold is a classic combo), interesting details like the studs around the edge of the platform and the little crystal encrusted skull on top. How adorable is his little mohawk?

At €675, they're not terribly expensive (not "sell a kidney on the black market" expensive anyway).

Love bites

It's so fluffyyyyyy!!! Oh my god, can you even believe these? Iron Fist is known to take it on a limb from time to time, but these are so over the top, I just have to love them, I have no choice. The furriness, the little jewels, the beautiful shape, the cute polka dot bow and of course, the heart and skull charms.

I originally spotted them on the Sarenza website, where they are pretty much sold out, but I noticed Amazon has them on sale for £46, so I guess that's your best bet if you love these babies.

Shoe challenge #25: Dotty

I love polka dots, in pretty much all shapes and forms. Thus, I love this dress. I wore it all the time this winter, with coloured tights of course. I'm usually not the biggest fan of green, as you know, so I tried to bring out the blues and the purples with the cardigan for some oomph.

The shoes however, get kind of neglected. I've only worn them once before and they were one of the last pairs to get saved last year. The main reason is that the right shoes slips off. All. The. Time. Sometimes the size difference between my two feet can really ruin a perfectly good shoe. It's a pity really, since they look so good!

PS: Yeay! 25 pair saved! Looks like we might finally be getting somewhere after all...

Wynn

I don't know what's up with all the scarf print lately. It reminds of Armani in the nineties, and yeah, explain to me again why we would want to explore nineties fashion again (apart from Dr. Marten's, that is)? That said, these are just one of the many examples out there, of scarf print slapped onto otherwise innocent shoes. Poor wedge, it had such a promising start, what with that nice shape and all. Won't somebody please think of the shoes?!!!

Radiant

A pink metallic sandal? I'm all over it! I love shiny stuff, especially if it's pink and high-heeled. And then I took a second look at the toe area. Which I really shouldn't have, because it sort of ruined this shoe for me.

I'm actually very curious to see these on a foot though, because I must admit I don't really know how such a minimal approach would look irl. So if you want to help me, go buy these for £45 at Topshop and then email me a photo as soon as you put them on!

Pippa

Sometimes you run into a pair of shoes that you expect to really like, but you end up not liking them at all. These are a good example of that. Even though they have all the features I usually fall for, the bright colours, the bows, the pretty shape, I'm not sold on these. Not even close, actually.

I think it's specifically the colours that don't work for me, or at least not in that combination with each other, because I'm totally enamored with that triple bow. The back up option, light blue with the pink and camel, appeals to me even less. So close, but no cigar...

Weaver

The Summer of 2012 seems to call for (at least one) pair of raffia wedges, and I've shown you quite a few options these past few months. Then again, there are also those shoes that take a trend a few bridges too far. Like these Topshop ones, for instance. Overdose on raffia anyone?
The fact that they're pink doesn't help either, they just look so cheap! While they are anything but, because at £65 I consider these pretty overpriced. PS: the natural and the grey look equally aweful, so at least I can't blame the pink. (No worries pink, you're still my favourite colour!)

Front lawn fun

This is exactly what summer should look like: fresh, breezy, bright, elegant and with a bow on top. I also like the contrast stitching and the polka dotted sole.

And only $46! My fingers are already itching...

Banana

It's that time again: sales at Karen Millen! And of course these banana yellow peep toes were going to attract my attention! They're plain enough to be timeless, but I love the stacked heel and platform, and I absolutely adore the dotty cut outs! Also, that subtle brogue twist convinces me every time! These are down to €119 and still available in all sizes, so if you want to get them, you can do so here.
After a little bit of hesitation I settled on this gorgeous dress myself. Although it's white and therefor not too wearable I'm afraid, I couldn't say no to the intricate embroidery and that typical shape that I love so much. That gorgeous neckline and that flirty skirt pulled me right in...

Pizzazz

Stripes. Wedges. Colour blocking. Three things that will still be big this summer. And this shoe incorporates all those wonderful qualities. If you like these, you have the choice between four colour ways: this grey-yellow combo, which is my personal favourite, as well as seafoam, tan and coral.

Very on trend, me thinks.

Good vibrations

A lot more ladylike than what I usually pick, but I thought these deserved a feature. If you want them, you'll have to hurry up and be lucky, because they're only left in 36,5 and 39,5... Better keep your £29,50 ready!

Gayla

A little bridesmaid-y, but pretty nonetheless. And on sale as well! Scoop up these Badgley Mischka peep toes for only €175 instead of €250. I especially love that little buckle, it reminds me so much of Carrie's Manolo Blahniks from the SATC movie.

Flamante

If Louboutin were God, Rupert Sanderson would be a demi-god. The man is genius. These Flamante pumps are proof.

€625 worth of proof.

Perfect for a Saturday night, aren't they? Not that I'm wearing anything nearly as glamorous on my feet right now.

Grasshopper

I'm going to sound like a broken record here, but let's just state the obvious again: I don't like green. I do rather like this particular shade of green though. It's more of a fresh, grassy green, perfect for spring. The suede will make it a smidgen too heavy for summer though, or for scolding hot daytime at least, but it would definitely work for an evening look, I think. You can spice up any Little Black Dress with a pair of shoes like that. Such a beautiful classic shape.

Now all I need to do is hope that €260 will come falling from the sky, straight into my lap.
