Shoe challenge #78: Layers

I don't wear these half-wedges nearly enough, but to be brutally honest, they don't always fit. Luckily today was a good day, and the squeezing was limited to a minimum. Like last year, I paired them with turquoise. These shoes have quite an effect and they do get lots of looks on the street. I love how you can't see all the differently coloured layers from the front. I love sneeky little touches like that.
It was the first time that I wore this skirt, since it's quite a thick fabric and therefore not very suited for hot weather. But now the weather has taken a turn for the worst and this skirt has the loveliest movement to it (perfect for twirling!), so I'm guessing it will become a staple piece this Winter.

Shoe challenge #60: Twist

I thought you're probably not tired of my Dorothy Perkins dresses yet, so I thought I'd show you the one that started it all. Unfortunately this one is a whole lot shorter than the others. But I love the busy print, and I actually don't even mind the green dots. Today I decided to play out the purple with my satin Zara peep toes. I even thought about adding a purple cardigan, but thought that would probably be a bit too much, so picked this white one instead.

The shoes are still too big, and in desperate need of some heel grips. By the end of the day they had gotten truly uncomfortable. I figured I might as well wear them to work though, even if they are satin and more evening-appropriate. I'm guessing I'll have to find some way to make all my "party shoes" work during the day, or they'll never get saved. I have a few weddings on my social calendar for next summer though, so I'm sure they'll get their proper place in the spotlight eventually.
 

I must say, I'm always surprised at how sophisticated these look. If I saw someone at a cocktail party wearing these, I would never guess they were Zara. The pleating on the toe is so delicate and exquisite. Simple yet elegant.

On a more general note, I was very surprised to see that I have managed to save no less than twenty pairs of shoes this month! Woop woop! I'm definitely planning to continue my winning streak this weekend, but I'll be staying at my mum's place so all shoe challenge posts won't go online until next week.

Shoe challenge #42: Cookies

I felt like doing something completely different today. So I did. I switched things up like it was nobody's business. No bare legs, and no cleavage in sight (even if the boobies are kind of my trademark). Also, maybe I was too lazy to shave my legs this morning. Hooray for maxi skirts!

I thought my Dany's would look good with a maxi skirt, and this ancient one (I've had it since I was 15 or 16) is the only one I own. I paired it with a Cookie Monster shirt, and I was. So. Comfortable! And I felt really really tall as well. Hooray for sky high yet comfortable heels!

Shoeper Shoesday: Dany

Shoe challenge #36: Spring in my step

I'm loving this newfound Summer! I'm overjoyed that I can wear my pretty dresses and my summer shoes. I actually wore sandals to work today! Let's hope it sticks, and I can work myself through all of those shoes that have no chance of being saved come Winter.

On the chopping block today were my floral wedges from New Look. They are airy and breezy and incredibly comfy as well. And I thought they added some extra cuteness to my whites.

I definitely prefer this look over how I wore the shoes last year, which confirms my mantra in life: all you need is a cute dress and some nice shoes!

Dazzle

How adorable are these? Damn you Shoeaholics, for not delivering outside of the UK!!! If you are lucky enough to live on British soil however, you can make these yours for £69 instead of £120.

Paisley

If you are in love with Steve Madden's Beasst platforms as much as I do, and you don't want to shell out €99 for them (and you are lucky enough to be American and have access to Target), here's a more budget-friendly alternative for you. For only $30 you can get these babies in pink, black, coral, gold or with a print. Or, since they're so cheap, you can get them all!

Shoe challenge #23: Twirling colours

This outfit is so old, I can't even remember! I've had both the dress and the shoes for years now, and especially the dress is a "go to" piece whenever I don't feel inspired. And today was such a day. I overslept and it was a rainy day, which made it extra hard to get dressed.

Even though this is the easiest of outfits in my book, it still stands out in the crowd because of the bright colours. I was quite disappointed in the shoes though, as I remembered them to be quite comfortable. But because it had been a while since I wore them last, they felt a bit hard. Too hard, because I have a huge blister on my heel right now. Guess they taught me a lesson: I need to get them out more!

Good vibrations

A lot more ladylike than what I usually pick, but I thought these deserved a feature. If you want them, you'll have to hurry up and be lucky, because they're only left in 36,5 and 39,5... Better keep your £29,50 ready!

If Louboutin were God, Rupert Sanderson would be a demi-god. The man is genius. These Flamante pumps are proof.

Just do it

Because shoe lovers want to be stylish all the time, even during sports. And these are just how I like my shoes: incredibly bright!

Tender

Considering my obsession with these, it may come as no surprise that I'm totally sold on these, even if they are green. I think these might be a little lower and thus slightly chunkier, but they're still very pretty and not very expensive. There's also a black and red version, which I personally find a bit too agressive-looking. I'd opt for this green and purple one instead.

Just when you thought things couldn't get any worse, these popped up.

Shoe challenge #10: Pace yourself

An old photo I almost forgot about! Again an easy formula: one of my favourite dresses, and one of my favourite pairs of shoes. I love items like these, that are so easy to wear, even on a daily basis. I kept the outfit pretty simple, with a pink belt to match the shoes, some black tights and a lime green cardigan.

The sun may be shining outside my window, but it is still quite chilly here in Belgium. I'm counting the days until I can go out barelegged again. And these sandals aren't helping either, they're making me long for summer even more! I'm loving the subtle colour blocking that's going on here, but I also like the pink and orange combo very much.

The good news? Only $21. The bad news? These would make for some ugly tan lines...

Shoe challenge #1: Starting all over again

It's that time again, a new shoe challenge! The rules have slightly changed, but the idea is pretty much the same: wear all your shoes within the year of the challenge, or lose them. Coincidentally these shoes were among the first to be saved last year, but to be completely honest, I didn't really think about this outfit much. Just some simple colour coordinating, that's it. Still cheery enough to brighten up a glum day though!

I can't wait to be able to wear my dresses without cardigans and tights. Soooo ready for Summer, I am! I'm also hoping I'll be able to convince someone to take my photos now and again, because these ones SUCK. But, then again, what can you expect when you take them at 10pm?

On my feet: Pace

When I was writing about these beauties, I realized that I hadn't worn my Asos Pace platforms in ages. While I love love looove them! While I've been eyeballing a pair of Kurt Geiger Assess on eBay in the same colour way, of which the resemblance to these is uncanny. Note to self: if I ever cave in and bid on those Assess-esses, go for the yellow colour way.
I've been feeling under the weather lately, so I haven't really felt like dressing up much. I'm still wearing high heels, as this picture is proof of, but combined with totally uninspiring outfits that have been worn (and seen) before. Although I did feel creative enough to slap on a purple belt together with the yellow one. I wanted to add one more, but I didn't feel quite that adventurous. I'll save that one for when I need to recycle this outfit again on a dreary day.

Givenchy's mystery

I spotted these purple Givenchy booties over at The Man Repeller, but even she doesn't even seem to know where to find them, as she didn't link them either. Although I have found the nude version (they sold out quickly though, at €846), they might remain a mystery, as I can't find the purple ones anywhere. Not even on Google Image! (so I pulled this tiny snapshot from Leandra's montage) Look at those gorgeous angles!

They do seem to exist in real life (I'm taking this picture as proof), but where oh where??

Oriental print

These Enriguez wedges from Aldo might seem like a whole lot of crazy, but I actually saw them in person in Belgrade, and I thought they were truly stunning irl. I love the colours and the print itself. I didn't dare try them on, that's how I always get into trouble, and I was adamant about not buying any shoes on my trip. (I must not have bought any in over a month! I think this double haul was my last shoe purchase)
Besides, they were still too expensive anyway, despite the sales. Online they have gone down to an astonishing £31 though, and were it not for those chunky ankle straps, I probably wouldn't have been able to resist, shopping detox or no detox. Reality is just that my legs are extremely short, and those (non-removable) straps would make them seem even shorter than they already are.

Outfit: On a giant toadstool...

It's been far too long since I posted any personal outfit posts, having been in my home town for Christmas first and next being on vacation, but we went on a little daytrip today, and since I'm so happy with my new coat, I thought I'd show it to you. The package was waiting on my doorstep when I came home from Serbia (which was great btw!) on Thursday, and I've worn it every day since. The Boy loves it as well, even if he still can't believe I actually do wear Dr. Martens...
And yes, I'm actually sitting on a giant toadstool. We went to a Dutch amusement park called Efteling, of which a large part is inspired by the classic fairy tales. It's right across the border from my hometown, so I grew up going to that one every year, and a picture on top of the toadstools has been a classic forever. Since a few years it's also open in Winter, and they change a lot of the decor, including switching the regular toadstools for version with snow on top and ice underneath. Have to love such eye for detail. I had an amazing day.
